Lesson #9 First Major Scale on the Bass
In this lesson we’re really going to get into playing a bit for the first time really. Lane on Bass is going to introduce you to the basics of the major scale pattern on the bass guitar. If you memorize the pattern he’s going to share with you then you’ll be able to use this same fingering pattern at any point on the bass guitar neck unless you bring an open string into the mix which does change things up a bit.
The pattern in terms of what fingers you’ll be using: 2 – 4 – 1 – 2 – 4 – 1 – 3 – 4
Remember this fingering pattern and you’ll be able to pull out all kinds of major scale shapes around the neck. Of course the key will be learning what notes are in the scale.
This is a great exercise to practice and build the muscle memory in your fingers. This is the first exercise that Lane on Bass uses his drum machine for a practice tool so pay close attention to the timing on each note.
