Lesson #5 Washing Your Hands Before Playing

Ok, now you might think this step is silly before you start playing but when you see the price of bass strings and also if you’re ever had a hand or wrist injury you’ll know just how important it is. Your bass strings can pick up all the dirt, oil and grime we carry around on our hands as well as your bass guitar neck. Washing your hands before you play will ensure that you get the maximum life from your strings and reduce the cleaning required on your bass guitar.

The second benefit of washing your hands before you sit down to practice is that you’ll warm up your hands, tendons and muscles. This will reduce the chance of any injury or stress on the tendons and muscles. Nothing is more painful then injuring your hands in that manner and then having to take a few days or worse weeks off from playing. So while today’s video isn’t so much a bass guitar lesson it is an important habit to pick up before playing.
